Day 63 – Kaskoleta – Les Chalets d’Iraty

13 miles hike with lots of ascent. At this point, the rolling hills of the Basque Region is slowly turning into the beginning of the high mountains of the Pyrenees. Having done the high mountains already 😉 I can say it is still an easy and steady climb in prairies. But again it’s been 63 days now and my body if feeling any incline like it is the mount everest (ha ha).
I have also caught a cold in the last few days, so I am fighting a sore throat and lack of sleep.
My brother is with me today which helps (any company is always a moral booster) but it also offers a way out of the GR10 a day sooner since he was going to pick me up the next day. It is a mental dilemma but physically I am beat …. so today when we arrive at the Chalet d’Iraty, it is the end of my journey.
What a journey it has been …. I need to take it in and come back in a few days with a debrief …. Be on the lookout.

21 km de randonnée avec beaucoup de dénivelé positif. À ce stade, les collines du Pays Basque se transforment lentement à de la haute montagne des Pyrénées. Ayant déjà fait la section haute montagne 😉 je peux dire que cela reste une montée facile et régulière dans les prairies.
Mais encore une fois, cela fait 63 jours maintenant et un dénivelé positif quel que soit le terrain se ressent comme si c'était le mont Everest (ha ha). J'ai également attrapé un rhume ces derniers jours, je lutte donc contre un mal de gorge et un manque de sommeil.
Mon frère est avec moi aujourd'hui ce qui aide (toute compagnie est toujours un booster de moral) mais çà présence offre aussi une sortie du GR10 un jour plus tôt puisqu'il allait me récupérer le lendemain.
C'est un dilemme mental mais physiquement je suis cassée …. alors aujourd'hui quand nous arrivons au Chalet d'Iraty, c'est la fin de mon périple.
Quel périple …. J'ai besoin de prendre du recul et de faire un débriefing dans quelques jours.
